Use the Right Cutting Tools
You need to make sure that you use the right cutting tools to unbox your mattress. When your mattress arrives, it will be rolled up in plastic. You may be excited to receive your mattress, and this is understandable—but you need to use appropriate cutting tools or you may end up damaging your product. A regular pair of scissors will do the job!
Unbox the Mattress Right
One of the first things you need to do when setting up your mattress is to keep it wrapped and follow any directions that may be listed on the packaging. This is because the instructions may change between mattress models. Remove the plastic and unroll the mattress onto your bed, not the floor. Ideally, you should roll it out right onto your bed frame while it’s still compressed. Don’t roll it out on the floor, as you may end up damaging the mattress. Not to mention that rolling directly onto the frame will bypass the need to lift it onto the frame later.
Leave the Mattress to Expand
Give the mattress a chance to expand into the bed frame. Some mattresses will need to be set up in a specific way to get the most out of it, depending on the materials used to make them. As the mattress has been rolled up for quite some time, you will need to let it breathe and return to its original shape. Don’t sleep on the mattress during this time. Doing so may compress it and stop it from returning to its original shape. It may be hard, but leave it at least a couple of hours before trying it out.
